History

In August of 1998, the ELCA Division for Outreach called Mission Pastor Eric Bakken to begin a church in the Dover-Eyota community. This new ‘mission start’ was a partnership venture between the SE MN Synod and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Rochester and was named Peace Lutheran Church.

Peace held its first service of worship in 1999 at the Dover-Eyota elementary school. Then, in October 2001 Peace Lutheran Church was organized and became the 185th congregation of the SE MN Synod. In November 2011, the congregation dedicated their new and current building at 903 Robert Drive SW in Eyota.

Peace continues to be a community of faith which cares deeply for each other and for their neighbors. The congregation is active in community outreach, supporting the Eyota Community Food Pantry and Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and partners with area churches to hold a Summer Vacation Bible school each year.

Peace Lutheran Church proclaims the Good News of Jesus Christ on Sundays at 9:30 am through worship with all ages together, and the rest of the week through our lives, individually and in community!
